Program Fees & Payment Information
Please see the chart below for all the associated fees for the season. This includes training fees, volunteer commitment, swim meet fees and governing body fees.

Please note, KBM only accepts credit card payments
Training fees will be paid in full at the start of the year or in multiple installments as indicated in the chart below. If paying in instalments, 30% is due at registration and the remaining is charged to your card on the first of each month (October 1st -April 1st inclusive). The governing body fees (non-refundable) will be paid on your behalf and charged to your account on November 1st.
Governing Body Fees
The governing body fees are paid to the regulatory bodies (Swim Ontario and Swimming Canada) for competitive swimming. These fees are not refundable. The Governing Body Fee will be invoiced on November 1st (see chart above for fee breakdown).
Swim Meet Entry Fees
Approximately $12-$15 per race + meet surcharge*
You can expect to pay Meet Entry Fees and a meet surcharge for any competition your swimmer is entered into during the year. As a competitive swim team, all competitive swimmers are expected to register for meets during the season. The purpose of this is to develop an understanding of the competitive environment and foster a team atmosphere. These fees will get invoiced to your KBM account anytime within 8 weeks after the meet. These fees are not refundable unless a swimmer withdraws well in advance of the meet date. Unfortunately, even if your swimmer is sick or otherwise unable to swim their races at the meet, these fees are still charged to you.
There is a meet surcharge which helps cover the cost of any relay fees and coach's travel expenses. No charge for home meets, $10 for 1-day meets, $25 for multiday meets.
Late Payment Fee
Payments of other fees and charges are due within one month; overdue accounts may be subjected to a 4% late penalty fee, which will continue to be levied each month until the overdue amounts are paid.
Member Volunteer & Officials Requirements
2025/2026 SEASON VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT
We rely on volunteers to make our home swim meets possible. See the chart below for the specific session volunteer requirements for each group. While we will need more than those numbers to properly staff our meets, we do rely on the kindness of some very committed volunteers from our club and others going above and beyond, so we highly encourage members to volunteer for more sessions than the minimum.
If you feel you are not able to commit, you can buy out your requirement before the first swim meet that your swimmer attends at a fixed cost of $500. Although we do not want to do so, you will be billed at year’s end in the amount of $100 per session missed.
2025/2026 SEASON OFFICIALS COMMITMENT
To host sanctioned swim meets by Swim Ontario, our club must have a certain number of officials Qualified or Certified at various officiating levels. Definitions of Qualified and Certified officials can be found here.
We require at least one member of every family to be registered as an official with Swim Ontario (except swimmers in MM, MM+, & JM). The officiating level requirements are determined by the highest training group of each family. This breakdown can be found on the chart below.
A family with a Level 3 Certified official will receive a 10% reduction in their family’s swim fees.
A family with a Level 4 Certified official will receive a 20% reduction in their family’s swim fees.
This reduction will be backdated for the season in which they become qualified (at half the above rates) and will remain in place as long as they have family members swimming for KBM and remain qualified.
If you did not buy out your commitment, you will be billed at $100 per level missed. For example, if you work all the sessions but are only Level 1 Qualified when you should be Level 1 Certified, you will be billed $100.

EXEMPTIONS
Partial or Full exemptions may be considered for:
- Board members
- Coaches
- Person in charge of catering at swim meets
- Other: There are other ways to contribute to the club. If you have contributed in other ways, please let us know and you can be credited approximately one session and ½ an officiating level of each 4-hour commitment.
- Extenuating circumstances, as requested of the board.
Further information can be found here: /cankbmsc/UserFiles/File/FAQ.pdf, however if you still have questions please don't hestiate to reach out to our Treasurer, Cara Chesney
Refunds
To keep things simple, all families are on the same payment plan with 30% of the fees required with registration, then 10% on the first of each month from Oct to April Inclusive. If swimmers wish to withdraw from the program, we ask to be given 5 business days' notice before the next payment is due.
Refunds are only available for KBM registration fees and will be approved by the Board only in exceptional circumstances. Governing body fees, swim meet fees, etc. are nonrefundable. While charged monthly, the amounts are not monthly fees, and as such memberships cannot be put on hold during the year. The later someone leaves in the season, the more difficult it will be to replace them and help cover our costs as the majority of these costs are fixed at the start of the season. We appreciate your understanding of this policy.
